Hi All,
Out of respect for the current Racial and Social Justice movements happening in our country, I will be holding off on releasing music for the summer. I was born and raised in South Minneapolis, less than one mile from where George Floyd was killed by Derek Chauvin and three other MPD officers. Growing up in this area, as well as attending Minneapolis Public Schools for my entire K-12 education exposed me to wonderful people of all races and backgrounds. I have learned so much about other cultures, my surroundings, and ultimately myself through these interactions. Unfortunately, I have also witnessed countless incidents of racial and religious persecution and violence, often, but not solely, at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department. I have myself been collateral damage in some of these instances, which is not to paint myself as a victim, but to explain the depth of my first-hand knowledge of these incidences. There is a deep need in this country for reform of policing and policies that better support our BIPOC and take away the ability of those in power to persecute and discriminate against these people- whether intentionally or systemic. Please consider donating to one of the many social justice organizations fighting to change these policies and support our BIPOC. Much love to you all, be safe, be vigilant, but keep fighting. Much love. -Reed
